Guernsey is the second largest of the Channel Islands and is situated some 80 miles south of the English mainland. The islands lie adjacent to the coast of France and the Bailiwick of Guernsey includes the smaller Channel Islands of Alderney, Sark, Herm and Jethou.
The island has attended every Commonwealth Games since its debut at the Edinburgh Games of 1970. It's first medals came in Brisbane in 1982 with gold following at the 1990 gathering in Auckland when Adrian Breton won the mens individual rapid fire pistol competition.
The responsibility of organising the island's participation in the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games sits with the Commonwealth Games Association of Guernsey.
