Alexander Stadium, host venue to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, has marked a new chapter in its 48-year history following the completion of its Legacy Capital Redevelopment Programme.

On World Oceans Day on 8 June, Commonwealth Sport celebrates the successful start to the King’s Baton Relay, with more than 167,500 pieces of plastic collected to date from Commonwealth oceans and waterways during a series of plastic clean-up events across the Caribbean, the first region the Relay has visited on the journey to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The latest GAPS camp descends on Port Vila, Vanuatu this week, with Commonwealth Sport and Griffith University delivering a multi-day workshop that enhances the preparation and performance of local athletes and coaches.
