Bermuda is an overseas UK territory, lying in the North Atlantic, east of the United States. The islands of Bermuda lie along the southern rim of the summit of a submarine volcanic mountain.

Bermuda made its debut in the 1930 Games, in Hamilton, Ontario, and has only missed four editions of the Games. Their first medal came in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1966, with a silver medal for John Morbey, in the men's Long Jump final. The 1990 Games, in Auckland, New Zealand, produced the first gold for Bermuda, when Clarence Saunders took the gold medal in the men's High Jump. Bermuda also medaled at the 1994 and 1998 Games.  

Matthew Oliviera delivered Bermuda's first ever youth Gold Medal, in 2017, thanks to his emphatic victory in the Cycling Time Trial, at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.

Bermuda's most recent Commonwealth Games success came at the 2018 Gold Coast Games, with Flora Duffy securing the gold medal in the women's Triathlon. Her win saw Flora become Bermuda's first female medalist.

Bermuda has a long and distinguished involvement in international sport, having been recognised as a National Olympic Committee (NOC) in 1936. This NOC is responsible for organising Bermuda's participation in the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games.
