The King’s Message is an integral part of the King’s Baton Relay and has been since the first Queen’s Baton Relay in 1958.  It is a personal, signed message from the Head of the Commonwealth to all athletes, calling them to come together for the Commonwealth Games.

The Message is placed into a Baton at the launch of the Relay and it remains secret until it is read aloud during the Opening Ceremony to officially open the Commonwealth Games.

For the first time ever, 74 Batons will be created, one for each and every nation and territory of the Commonwealth.  Each of these Batons will have a different word from The King’s Message engraved upon it.

During the King’s Baton Relay we will see each of these words being brought to life by each nation and territory in turn.  We will see parts of The Message but not until all 74 Batons return to the Opening Ceremony for Glasgow 2026 will we hear the full Message.
