The Governance and Corporate Affairs Department is responsible for the Governance of the CGF as well as overseeing the delivery of the activities undertaken by HR, Procurement, Facilities, IT, Legal and Safeguarding.
Governance
Governance management ensures that the CGF deploys a best-practice governance framework, compliance framework and associated administrative practices.
HR
The HR department within the Commonwealth Games Federation is responsible for managing personnel-related matters. This includes recruitment, employee onboarding, training and development, performance management, and compliance with labour laws and organisational policies. HR plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment, resolving conflicts, and supporting the professional growth of staff members, ensuring the organisation operates efficiently with a motivated and skilled workforce.
Procurement
The Procurement department oversees the acquisition of goods and services necessary for the operations of the Commonwealth Games Federation. This involves identifying needs, sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that purchases are made cost-effectively and transparently. The procurement team also plays a vital role in maintaining vendor relationships, monitoring contract compliance, and managing the overall procurement lifecycle to guarantee the organisation has the necessary resources to fulfil its mission.
Facilities
The Facilities department manages and maintains the physical infrastructure and spaces utilised by the Commonwealth Games Federation. This includes venues, offices, and any other facilities required for the smooth conduct of events and day-to-day operations. The team ensures that these spaces are safe, functional, and equipped with the necessary resources, coordinating maintenance, repairs, and facility enhancements to create a conducive environment for all stakeholders involved.
IT
The IT department manages the technological infrastructure and systems supporting the Commonwealth Games Federation's operations. This encompasses network management, software and hardware maintenance, cybersecurity, and IT support services. IT professionals play a critical role in ensuring digital resources' security, efficiency, and reliability, enabling the organisation to effectively communicate, store and process data and leverage technology for operational excellence.
Legal
The Legal department provides expert guidance on legal matters affecting the Commonwealth Games Federation. This includes contract negotiations, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, intellectual property issues, dispute resolution, and general legal counsel. The legal team plays a crucial role in safeguarding the organisation's interests and ensuring that its activities are conducted within the boundaries of the law while also protecting its reputation and mitigating legal risks.
Safeguarding
The Safeguarding department is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in Commonwealth Games Federation activities. This includes athletes, staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders. The team develops and implements policies and procedures to prevent and respond to harassment, abuse, discrimination, and other safeguarding concerns. They work tirelessly to create a secure and inclusive environment, promoting a culture of respect and integrity within the organisation.
At present, the team comprises three staff: the Director, Legal and Compliance Manager, HR Specialist and Safeguarding Lead (Open). External contracts support this team especially in the areas of IT and Finance.
